Setting Up The Live Broadcasting Cart

- Live Broadcasting Cart (LBC) Operation
Plug power cord from LBC into 110v power outlet. Make sure the power switch on the cart is set to the "on" position.
Plug broadcast cable into broadcast jack on the Classroom Control Panel or in the Data Plate on the wall (usually near the floor). Be careful not to bend the pin!
Turn volume all the way down on the preview monitor and mute all TVs in the broadcasting area to eliminate feedback. (For microphone use, see Audio Notes)
Position LBC so the person who is operating the camera is facing the monitor screen.
Turn camera on and remove lens cap.
Center the video image on the monitor screen. Do not use the eyepiece on the camera!
Adjust picture lighting by changing the settings on the cameras, if light adjustments are available on camera.

Note: Colors may appear differently depending on the type of lighting used.

- Audio Notes

If an audio mixer is present on cart, external microphones may be used.
Plug external microphones into back of mixer or external connection box, if present.
Adjust mixer settings to "5" for each audio device you are using.
MASTER volume on mixer should always be set at "5" or higher.
To eliminate background noise, set the mixer volume for CAMERA to "0."
Background music/effects can be added by plugging a CD/tape player (or other audio device) into the AUX port on the cart. Adjust the mixer volume on the AUX dial to an appropriate setting (usually below "4").
While playing a pre-recorded tape in the camera during a broadcast, the CAMERA volume must be set at "5." The audio from the video tape will be broadcast and the microphone on the camera will be essentially "turned off."
